About KathleenStablesArt
Meet Kathleen

Hi, I’m Kathleen Stables — a Lowcountry artist living and painting on Fripp Island, South Carolina. My colorful original paintings and fine art prints are inspired by the marshes, beaches, wildlife, and coastal beauty of the Beaufort area. Art has been part of me since childhood; I grew up drawing people and figures, filling sketchbooks with the world as I saw it. Life took me down a different career path for a while, but a few years ago I picked up acrylics as a hobby — and something clicked. What started as a creative outlet has grown into a true passion.
Inspired by the Coast
Five years ago, I visited Fripp Island for the first time. I turned to my husband and said, "This is it." I haven't looked back. The South Carolina coast — its tidal creeks, sweeping marshes, and quiet shorelines — is my greatest muse. I'm drawn to nature and landscapes, and I love the way this particular stretch of the world holds both wildness and stillness at once. Sometimes a figure finds their way into a scene too, a nod to those early sketchbook days. My work often has a whimsical quality — a little dreamlike, a little playful — because that's how this place makes me feel.
Original Paintings, Prints & Giclées
Every piece in my gallery begins as an original painting, made by hand in my studio using acrylic on canvas. I work in layers, building color and texture until the scene feels alive. Each original is a one-of-a-kind piece that will never exist quite the same way again. For those who love the work but are looking for a different size or price point, I also offer high-quality prints and Giclées — so there's a way to bring a little coastal calm into any home.
Let's Connect

I'm so glad you're here. Whether you're searching for the perfect piece to complete a room or simply want to bring a little coastal calm into your everyday life, I'd love for you to explore the gallery. And if you ever have questions or want to know more about a specific piece, please don't hesitate to reach out — I love hearing from the people who connect with my work.
